Rain and wind to start the day in Topeka

Day 29, Forth of July in middle America. It’s hard not to appreciate this great holiday when you ride through small communities all preparing for a celebration Everyone is friendly, happy and in a celebratory mood. We started the day in a heavy rain, I flatted 5 miles from the hotel and had to change it in a pouring rain, My riding partners for the day, big John and Wild thing Rob, wouldn‘t leave me and helped me to get it changed and quickly back on the road. Good to have friends. .The rain stopped about an hour into the ride and it remained cloudy and somewhat cool for most of the ride with a great tailwind. We traveled through the rural back roads of Kansas and made the state change to Missouri not long after we crossed over the Missouri River. We made it to St Joseph around noon, just in time for a shake and nice lunch. Rest day tomorrow and then back on the road. Hoping to see some fireworks tonight.
